Food Ingredients Calculator
Ingredient proportion ranges from US grocery labels
FDA ingredient lists are ordered by weight, not measured on the label. Ranked ingredients stay strictly apart. Anything after a “2% or less” statement can tie, and a stated fraction such as 0.5% is allowed below 1%.
From a label
Paste a comma-separated list. A “contains 2% or less of” statement starts the tie band. Write 0.5% on an ingredient, or “contains 0.5% or less of”, to go below 1%.
From a count
Ranked ingredients cannot tie. Add a count for the “2% or less” statement if you want that band too — those can tie, and each is 1–2%.
Rules in this version: ingredients before a “contains 2% or less” / “less than 2%” statement are strictly ranked, whole percents, at least 1 point apart, and at least 3% so they sit above the statement. Ingredients in the statement can tie, and each is 1–2% unless the statement itself names a lower cap such as 0.5%. An ingredient written as 0.5% is pinned at that value, including under 1%. Ranges are marginal. The tick is one valid allocation.
